Our vision

Giving direction to complex systems

The story of Groupe Vectanor

In 2006, Bernard Têtu and Pierre Chaput founded Dimonoff in Québec City — a name forged from Dim-On-Off, the three states of light. Their ambition: to transform public lighting into intelligent, data-driven infrastructure.

Daniel Noiseux joined shortly after, in 2008, bringing his business development expertise and grounding the group’s commercial ambitions.

The company grew fast. In 2012, the City of Mississauga entrusted it with over 50,000 streetlights — the first large-scale smart city project in Canada. Other municipalities followed. Today, more than 575 projects, 850,000 connected devices, and a presence in 15 countries place the group among the top five worldwide in smart street lighting.

In 2018, Dimonoff acquired Amotus, an electronic design house founded in 2013 in Québec City. This vertical integration added hardware and firmware expertise to the group’s software capabilities — a rare combination that allows it to design, manufacture, and deploy complete IoT solutions under one roof.

Amotus also develops and maintains Fundamentum, an IoT Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) that serves as the technological foundation for Vectanor’s solutions and several of Amotus’s client products. Entirely designed and maintained by Amotus’s teams, Fundamentum is not a division — it is the infrastructure that enables connecting, managing, and analyzing thousands of IoT devices with reliability, security, and scalability.

By 2026, the Dimonoff name — inseparable from lighting — no longer reflected the full scope of the group’s activities. The parent company became Groupe Vectanor. Dimonoff continues its mission within the lighting division, alongside Spatium (parking management optimization), Amotus (IoT engineering), and Vigilia (incident identification and tactical intervention support).

The name Vectanor comes from the concept of a vector: a direction, a force, a trajectory. It reflects the conviction that a technology group must not only provide tools — it must set the course.

Our philosophy

Groupe Vectanor acts as a strategic parent company, designed to allow each division to focus on its area of excellence while benefiting from a shared vision, solid technology governance, and common execution capability.

The group favors a pragmatic approach: proven technologies, mastered integration, and a deep understanding of operational constraints in the field.

« The systems that structure our cities and industries must be designed as trust infrastructure, capable of evolving without disruption and without unnecessary dependency. »
